Commissioning Areas

We buy secondary care health services from a range of provider organisations , either as a CCG or in collaboration with the partner organisations who work alongside us.

We commission services including hospital, community health and voluntary sector services, including A&E, mental health and maternity, care for older people and those with long-term conditions, such as diabetes, dementia and heart disease.

We have four commissioning teams

The Primary and Community Care Team is Responsible for commissioning locally commissioned primary care (GP) services and community services, as well as for co-commissioning GP services with NHS England.

Planned Care and Cancer

The Planned Care and Cancer Team commission planned care, such as routine hospital operations, and cancer services, and is the lead commissioner for services we buy from Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Urgent Care

The Urgent Care  Team commissions urgent care including A&E and out-of-hours services like the Walk In GP centre and NHS 111

Mental Health and Children's Health

The Mental Health and Children's Health team commissions mental health services for children, young people and adults in the city, as well as maternity and children's services.
